Integration

Many large organizations are reducing costs, improving agility and reducing risk with enterprise SOA programs. These programs help enterprise applications to share information between them.

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technology overcomes these challenges by creating event-driven interfaces between applications, allowing you to interchange data in real-time. This technology is typically based on some message oriented middleware, such as IBM MQ Series or some other (JMS) message engine, providing a reliable, secure and manageable communication mechanism between applications. This combined with services for data validation, encryption and transformation, adapters for technology and application connectivity, allows to quickly create integration solutions.

EAI has been around for more than a decade now and in recent years its concepts have been combined with open standards such as XML and Web-Services, which resulted in a new type of integration middleware: the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The ESB provides a reliable communication backbone within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and serves as a foundation for a Business Process Management System (BPMS).
